Ryan Williams on the Rise

Not many people are aware of Arkansas Wings point guard Ryan Williams, but that is beginning to change. High majors are starting to come after the 6-foot-2, 180-pounder from Jonesboro (Ark.) High School.
“Ryan is a stud,” said Mike Charles, Arkansas Wings head coach. “I think Purdue is going to offer. [Coach] Painter called and loves him. He is the sleeper of the summer. He plays four on his high school team and has never really played the one. He is just getting better and better every game.”

Purdue is not the only school interested in Williams.
“Nebraska is interested,” said Coach Charles. “Oklahoma State is looking at him. Texas Tech, Southern Illinois, Arkansas State, and Arkansas-Little Rock are all interested. Coach Heath from Arkansas called about him last week and really wants to watch him play.”
Williams has a 39 inch vertical jump and is a tremendous defender according to Coach Charles.
“He is the best on the ball defender I have ever coached. People question his outside shot, but he made 4 of 4 from three in our state championship game. But he does love to slash to the basket.”
At the Boo Williams Invitational, Williams scored 28 points against Tiki Mayben, and he will have an even bigger test against Louis Williams when the Wings square off against the Georgia Stars at the Memorial Day Classic in New Orleans.
