During July, Rutgers and head coach Steve Pikiell made sure that point guard Mac McClung knew that he was a priority. That work paid off on Thursday.

The high flying point guard announced via his Twitter account that he's headed to Rutgers.

During the summer, McClung played for the stacked Team Loaded VA club and program director Ty White thinks Rutgers and his point guard are a perfect fit.

"The style of play is a fit," White told Rivals.com."The coaching style is great too. He's a guard going into a program where the staff is friendly with guards and it's a great fit for him. They made him a priority."

Because he is a high flyer and a favorite of the mixtape community, McClung has drawn a lot of attention on social media. While athleticism is certainly a major part of his game, he brings much more to the table.

"He's an ultimate competitor," said White. "He can really defend his butt off on the ball and off the ball. He's a warrior. Early in high school he showed that he can really score and lately he has also had opportunities to show that he can run a team as well."

A three-star prospect, McClung is Rutgers' second commitment from the 2018 class and joins Rivals150 big man Mamadou Doucoure as an early pledge.
