Rutgers lands first in 2013

It took a little while to scratch, but Rutgers is now on the board in the recruiting class of 2013.
Thursday, head coach Mike Rice and his program landed a commitment from point guard Shane Rector.

A New York City kid who is spending his senior season at South Kent (Conn.) Prep, Rector is a six-footer and three-star prospect who was one of the best available point guards on the market.
More of a change of speed and crafty player than a guy who burns opponents with athleticism, Rector is also a tough competitor. He mixes up speeds, is pretty comfortable going right or left and has just enough scoring pop to keep defenders on edge and on their heels.
In making the jump to the next level, Rector will need to get a little quicker laterally, be a little better with his decision making and continue to develop with his jump shot.
By adding Rector to the mix, Rutgers has improved their overall ball handling and added some depth. Also, should they choose to, they can play small, multiple guard lineups where current players like Myles Mack and Jerome Seaggars can play some off the ball.
