Rugged Forward Has Major Offer

Jon Williams, a rugged 6-8, 235 pound power forward from St. Cloud Apollo H.S. in St. Cloud, Minn., was one of the better sleepers to emerge from last weekend's Rumble in the Bronx Tournament at Fordham University.
Despite playing on the Howard Pulley B team, Williams showed that he has many of the tools to be a high major prospect.

Blessed with broad shoulders and a strong upper body, Williams played aggressively around the tin when we viewed him at the Rumble, either scoring in the low post or drawing contact from defenders. He also brandished a jump hook in the paint at times.
Williams told the Insiders Report/Rivalshoops.com that he has been offered by Northern Iowa and Marquette, and recently took an unofficial visit to the Conference USA program. In addition to Marquette and UNI, he has also seen interest from Creighton, Indiana State, Illinois, Iowa, Wake Forest, Iowa State, Kansas State, Miami, St. John's and UNLV.
Williams is originally from the Atlanta area, and attended the same high school (Riverdale) as current N.C. State rising sophomore Josh Powell. Because he transferred in to St. Cloud Apollo late, Williams played in just six games this past season, averaging 10 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks per game.
Williams said he plans to unofficially visit Iowa State, Northern Iowa and Creighton in upcoming weeks. So far, Marquette is the only one who has received a visit (back on June 10) and they're clearly the leader right now.
"I like their program," Williams said. "I went on the unofficial visit there and it was great."
Williams said he currently carries a 2.7 GPA and took the ACT for the first time on June 8.
His summer plans include the Nike Peach Jam and AAU Super Showcase with the Howard Pulley program.
