Rudy Gay Says Hes Wide Open
This past weekend one of the best players on hand at the Five Star tournament in Boston was Rudy Gay, the graceful 6-foot-8, 210-pound power forward from Archbishop Spalding H.S. in Severn, Maryland. RivalsHoops.com watched Gay play several times in the Five Star-run event held on the campus of Northeastern and also at Madison High School.

Gay was especially good in a Saturday afternoon game against Riverside Church. He had several dribble-drive, spinning moves in the low post that caught Riverside defenders flat-footed. He also slammed home a few passes from his guards to showcase the strength part of his game.
There's no doubt that Gay is a top 30 player. He has all the offensive skills to be a big-time college basketball player. RivalsHoops.com asked him several questions, including one about the commitment by James Gist to Maryland. "Maryland is a big part of my process," Gay said. "It won't affect my decision on where I go. I am still interested in them and in other schools."
Gay, a Baltimore, Md., native, previously said that UConn Head Coach Jim Calhoun, Maryland Head Coach Gary Williams, Clemson Head Coach Oliver Purnell, Villanova Head Coach Jay Wright, Syracuse Head Coach Jim Boeheim and Indiana Head Coach Mike Davis were among the coaches who have paid visits to him at Spalding this spring.
"I am pretty wide open," Gay said. "Kentucky, Indiana, Clemson, Maryland, NC State, Florida State, Virginia, Syracuse, Connecticut, St. John's, Marquette, Arizona. There are so many schools that I like."
Gay plays for Anthony Lewis' Cecil Kirk program. Cecil Kirk is a team filled with a lot of good 2004 and 2005 talent. So RivalsHoops.com will keep an eye on this talented squad throughout the spring and summer.
