Rondo to Kentucky

No high school player is playing better basketball than Oak Hill’s Rajon Rondo. And according to sources close to his recruitment the 6-foot-1, 155-pound point guard will announce his commitment to the University of Kentucky on Monday.
Lexington and Louisville television stations are reporting his commitment to the Wildcats and Oak Hill coach Steve Smith had these comments when reached on the teams way back from California to Virginia.

“He said he wanted to do something tomorrow,” said Coach Smith. “He is planning on announcing it tomorrow.”
Rondo is presently the No. 73 player in the Rivals150, but he is certain to rise much higher when the soon to be updated version of the Rivals150 is released.
In a recent interview with RivalsHoops.com, Rondo had mentioned Illinois, USC, Maryland, Oklahoma, UCLA, Alabama, and Arkansas along with Kentucky as schools that were recruiting him. Absent from that list is hometown school Louisville, who has already signed Sebastian Telfair.
Coach Smith had this to say about Rondo’s play in the Nike Extravaganza.
“He had 40 points and 8 assists. He comes to play every night.”
In an earlier interview with RivalsHoops.com about Rondo, Smith had these words of praise for his point guard.
“I have been doing this a long time, coaching for 25 years, 19 of those here,” said Coach Smith. “Rajon is the best point guard we have had here, since Rod Strickland. And I have had five or so play in the league. I would not trade Rajon for any other point guard in the country, including Telfair and Livingston. He has such knowledge of the game and is so smart.”
“NBA scouts come all the time to see Josh Smith, and everyone of them to a man has come up to me afterwards and said that Rajon is the best point guard they have seen. They think he is a NBA lock after one or two years.”
