Rondo Could Have Had Assist Record

Oak Hill point guard Rajon Rondo recorded 27 assists and 31 assists in back to back games last week. The future Kentucky Wildcat would have broken the national record of 35 if Coach Steve Smith had only known how close he was to breaking the record.
“He would have broken the national record of 35, but he came out of the game with seven minutes left in the fourth quarter,” said Coach Smith. “I didn’t know how many he had, or I would have left him in. He could have gotten five more assists easily.”
Rondo, the No. 20 player and No. 3 point guard in the Rivals150, has blossomed this year as the floor general for undefeated Oak Hill.
