Ron Wyatt, a 6-7, 210-pound forward from
Washingtonville High School, in Orange County, New York, has verbally committed to Canisius.

Wyatt, a member of the Gauchos AAU program, didn't play any AAU basketball this summer because he was re-taking an English class. For this reason, he may have slipped
under the radar of many schools.
Wyatt averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds last season for his high school team.
"I didn't play any AAU basketball this summer because I was re-taking an English class," said Wyatt. "I felt that was more important than playing ball this summer."
Wyatt chose Canisius over Rider. Wyatt had taken an official visit to Canisius two weekends ago, and trekked to Rider for an official jaunt last weekend. Rider had offered.
Other schools that had shown interest included Vermont, Birmingham Southern, Liberty, Boston University, and Binghamton. Wyatt told Rivals Hoops that other than Canisius and Rider, schools wanted him
to wait until the spring before making a decision.
"Canisius and Rider were the only two schools who offered me early," said Wyatt.
Wyatt was impressed by the sincerity of the staff at Canisius, something that helped sway him toward the Buffalo school.
"The coaches were really genuine," said Wyatt. "They told me that they would help me work on my game for the next four years, and I believe they will."
Wyatt also cited the Buffalo area and his
relationship with the players as factors in his decision.
"I got along really well with the players," said Wyatt. "We hit it off."
"Basically, I just really felt comfortable with the school."
Wyatt has scored 1000 on the SAT, but still needs to lift his core GPA to qualify, something he is confident he will do.
"I'm glad to have the decision out of the way," said the well-spoken Wyatt. "Now I can concentrate on academics and basketball."
