Roger Bacon Knocks Off Sumpter, Bishop Loughin

LEWES, DELAWARE -- Roger Bacon High School of Cincinnati, Ohio used a balanced attack to offset a one-man show for Bishop Loughlin at the Slam Dunk to the Beach tournament this morning. Bacon defeated Loughlin, 62-51.
Loughlin led by three points at the half, mainly on the strength of Curtis Sumpter's 17 points. Sumpter has signed a letter of intent with Villanova.

But Bacon used its rebounding skills to damage Loughlin inside. Bacon claimed a 40-27 rebounding advantage for the game. This led to Bacon running away from Loughlin in the fourth quarter.
Monty St. Clair, a 6-7 junior forward from Bacon, led all scorers with 19 points. He also pulled down 11 rebounds. St. Clair got plenty of rebounding help in Frank Phillips, who had 10 boards. Phillips also scored 17 points. Josh Housefeld also helped the winners out by scoring 14 points.
Beside Sumpter, the only bright spot for Loughlin was Andrew Wright, who had 10 points.
