Rodney Tucker To Transfer

Rodney Tucker, a 6-8, 235 pound power forward who last played collegiately at Florida State University, has signed on to play this year at Tallahassee C.C. in Tallahassee, Fla.
Tucker redshirted the 2000-2001 season at Florida State after playing as a freshman at the ACC school in 1999-2000. Tucker averaged 2.1 points and 1.9 rebounds in 10.7 minutes per game for the Seminoles during his freshman campaign.

According to a TCC press release, Tucker sat out his last year at FSU due to an unresolved legal issue.
"I believe we can help Rodney," said first-year Tallahassee Head Coach Eddie Barnes. "We know there is a risk and we're prepared to deal with the consequences, but if everything works out we have helped to turn his life in a more positive direction. That's what we're here to do at a community college."
Prior to arriving at Florida State, Tucker attended Stone Mountain H.S. in Stone Mountain, Ga., where he was an honorable mention All-USA selection by USA Today newspaper, and all-state first-team selection as a junior and senior.
Tucker averaged 20.7 points and 10.7 rebounds during his senior season. He also averaged four blocks, four assists, and connected on 58 percent of his field goals.
Barnes came to TCC this past spring after a very successful coacing career at Wallace C.C. in Dothan, Ala.
The addition of Tucker should help the Eagles ease the loss of a pair of big men transfers. Cameron Echols, a 6-6 forward from Chicago, Ill., transferred to Kennedy King (IL) C.C., while 6-9 forward Moustafa Diouf transferred to Collin County (TX) C.C.
Echols averaged 13.6 points and 8.3 rebounds per game as a freshman last season at TCC; Diouf averaged 2.7 points and 2.3 rebounds and led the Eagles with 27 blocks.
Following his sophomore season at TCC in 2001-2002, Tucker will have two years to play on the division one level.
