Robinson Will Be Busy This Weekend

Rice High School guard Russell Robinson has developed the reputation in the New York City area as being one of the toughest competitors on the high school level. When watching Robinson dart around the court on both ends of the floor, you are left with the impression that Russell has dripped every ounce of sweat he can from his 6-foot-2, 187-pound frame.
Robinson will take the same approach to the game of basketball this weekend. He will play for his Rice High School team at the Hoop Group's event at Seton Hall this weekend. But after he completes a game for Rice, he will also play for his AAU team, the Gauchos, at the Rumble in the Bronx at Fordham University.

College coaches love the fact that Robinson has such a thirst to play the game of basketball. It shows in Russell's work on defense and offense. "I am always looking to improve every part of my game," Robinson said. "I want to be a complete player. This is always what I have tried to be."
It's for these reasons programs like Kansas, Connecticut, Illinois, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, St. John's, Syracuse, Villanova, Louisville, Kentucky and Mississippi State have all express interest in Robinson's skills. "I don't have a leader," Robinson said. "I want to take some more trips before I decide."
Robinson has a quick first step that helps him scoot past defenders. He's athletic and elevates/finishes capably in the lane. He earns lots of trips to the foul line, can create his own shot and is an adequate three point shooter. This past season at Rice, Robinson averaged 18 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals per game.
