Robinson Thinking Spring Trip To Ga. Tech

Russell Robinson, the high scoring 6-2,187 pound shooting/combo guard from Rice H.S. in New York, N.Y., helped lead the Bronx Gauchos to the title game of this past weekend's Playaz Spring Fling in New Jersey.
Robinson scored all of his 14 points in the second half on Sunday, but it wasn't enough to help the Gauchos upend the Playaz Gold in the title game. The Gauchos dropped a 65-63 decision to their Garden State counterparts.

Despite the loss, Robinson was named all tournament, and with good reason. He helped the Gauchos to a second place finish in pool play, and then scored 17 points in both the quarters and semis to help the Bronx program gain the final.
Robinson told Rivalshoops.com that he is considering nine schools. Illinois, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, St. John's, Syracuse, Villanova, Louisville, Kentucky and Mississippi State are the schools that he rattled off in a post-game interview at the Spring Fling.
Robinson has already taken unofficial visits to St. John's and Villanova. He added that he is hoping to visit Georgia Tech between now and the end of the school year.
Robinson has a quick first step that helps him scoot past defenders. He's athletic and elevates/finishes capably in the lane. He earns lots of trips to the foul line, can create his own shot and is an adequate three point shooter.
This past winter at New York Catholic powerhouse Rice, Robinson averaged 18 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals per game. Robinson said he has a 91 average in the classroom and takes the SAT for the first time on May 3.
Robinson will be a constant presence on the Nike circuit this spring and summer. He will attend both the Boo Williams Tournament and Kingwood Classic later this month, and is slated to attend the Nike All-American Camp in July.
The Gauchos plan on attending both the AAU Super Showcase and AAU Nationals in July as well.
Rivalshoops.com will keep you abreast of Robinson's situation as the summer live period looms on the horizon. Stay tuned!
