Robinson Resurfaces at Prince Ave. Prep
Jujuan Robinson could be a spy. He could be a sniper. He’s got that quiet, hide amongst the numbers flavor about him. The 6-foot, 185 pound combo guard from Baltimore has been hard to find since the summer but he’s resurfaced at Prince Avenue Prep (SC) and is looking to be that silent killer once again on the hardwood.

After lighting up over the summer – being named to the All Tournament teams at events like the Big Time in Las Vegas, the Atlanta Basketball Classic and the Best of Summer in L.A. – Robinson saw a number of schools show interest. But with his travels sending him to the small town of Pickens, SC, some teams have lost touch.
Middle Tennessee State, Pitt, St. Johns and UConn have all shown a significant amount of interest, Robinson said. MTSU is the only school that has offered. Robinson said he’s trying to coordinate some official visits but he isn’t sure when and where he wants to go. Like most prospects, Robinson said he’d like going somewhere that will allow him to play right away.
Prince Avenue head coach Mark Knight said a lot of schools don’t even know that the shooting guard is at the school. With a schedule loaded with games against Laurinburg Institute, Mt. Zion, Hargrave Military and trip to the Flying to the Hoop tournament in Dayton, OH, Robinson will get noticed once again.
“We’ve got a nice schedule so right now we are just working hard on defense and getting conditioned,” Robinson said. “That’s what we need to do first before we start thinking about how many points we’ll score. Defense first.”
Robinson is known for his offensive ability, particularly as a shooting guard. But he said the schools that are looking at him want to play him at the point. That’s fine with him. Robinson, who is usually pretty coy, gave his self-scouting report.
“If I play point, I could be deadly because I can shoot, I have good vision and I’m pretty smart with the ball,” Robinson said. “I don’t know of anybody that can stop me when I penetrate.”
Knight agrees. He said Robinson gives the team another dimension on both sides of the ball but there are still some areas of improvement.
“He’s so lightning quick. He’s faster than anyone here,” Knight said. “Right now we are just working on being consistent with his jumper. He can knock down six jumpers in a row but then he’ll come back down and miss three in a row. That’s the biggest thing. Other than that, it’s just so hard to defend him. Nobody on the team can defend him.”
