Avery Brown is a 6-foot-3 guard from Gill (Mass.) Northfield Mount Herman. The unsigned senior came in at No. 136 in the most recent 2022 Rivals150 rankings.

“I am an all-around point guard, a leader,” Brown told Rivals.com. “I can score at all three levels. A key part of my game is getting to my spots, the mid-range, pick-and-roll action. Focus on distributing the ball and being a great point guard for my team. I have gotten a lot smarter over the last eight or so months. I have watched a lot of film, really studied the game. I have been watching a lot of ball screen actions, working on being elite at that.”

Brown on his recruitment

“There have been a lot of new schools showing interest to get into the mix,” Brown said. “This process has been pretty hectic lately with the transfer portal now involved. I am taking my time. I have taken official visits to Colorado and Nebraska. I am in the process of setting a visit up with Pittsburgh right now. So maybe during Christmas time or when I get some time; the season is so hectic right now. ....

“I am looking for a program where I can go right in and learn. Obviously, I would like to play right away. I am going to rely on relationships and want to play for a coach who believes in me and a program that has a great culture. I don’t have a time frame yet to commit by yet; we will see, March, maybe early next year.”

Brown on the teams involved

Nebraska: “I had never been to the state of Nebraska before. Coach (Fred) Hoiberg treated me great when I went out there. It went great, and I think they are building something great out there. I went in the summer, so there weren’t any students, but the atmosphere of the basketball team really stood out. They want to build something.”

Colorado: “The state is beautiful; I have never seen anything like it. I think coach (Tad) Boyle and their program is going to do well in the Pac 12. They make the tournament often, and I could see myself prospering there, so we’ll see.”

Pittsburgh: “They are in the ACC, a great conference. Their assistants have done a great job of building a relationship. Everything is fairly new with them, but I think I could go in there and play right away. That is what I am really looking for.”“

Others: "UNLV and Cal are two of the newer schools who have been reaching out. We will see where that relationship goes.”

Rivals' Reaction

Brown is a combo guard who is comfortable playing on or off the ball. He has a projectable frame, with long arms and broad shoulders. He played alongside fellow Rivals150 guard Rowan Brumbaugh, the two toggle back and forth between the two guard spots. Solid is the name of Brown’s game.
