Thanks to a pledge from Rivals150 junior combo forward Darius Hicks, an already good week just got great for Rick Ray and Mississippi State.

A 6-foot-7 combo forward from Quitman (Miss.)High who ranks No. 129 in the class of 2016, Hicks is the second Rivals150 prospect from the class of 2016 to pick the Bulldogs this week after No. 61 D'Marcus Simonds committed on Tuesday night.
Ray has been working hard to cultivate relationships in Mississippi and the Deep South and this week has been a result of that work.
"My opportunity to play right away and the chance to represent my home state," Hicks told Rivals.com when asked why he chose to commit early.
Very athletic and a big time finisher in transition, Hicks said that MSU plans to use him as a combo forward and that sounds like a good fit.
He has toughness around the rim and can use his athleticism and length to help compensate for size. Against smaller wings, his ability to play on the interior and get on the glass can cause matchup problems.
Clearly, this is a great start for Ray and his staff in the class of 2016. Ray has worked hard to upgrade the talent level in Starkville and it's starting to pay off. Hicks gives a versatile swing while Simonds is a pure scoring wing who can get on a roll from deep or score off the dribble.
