Rivals150 junior guard Jordan Lathon on the rise

Ranked in the Rivals150, 6-fotot-4 combo guard Jordan Lathon continues to develop his game and attract more attention.

Athletic and capable as playing as a distributor or scorer, Lathon had a great year individually at Grandview (Mo.) High. He was left with a bit of a sour taste in his mouth over how things ended but plenty to look forward to.

"Junior year went well," Lathon told Rivals.com. "It was a fun season. Coming from 13-14 freshman year, 17-10 as a sophomore and then leading the team to 24-5 and losing the game to go to the State Final Four was tough. But looking back on it we had a lot of success and there's a lot to build on."

Lathon counts scholarship offers from the likes of Butler, Colorado, DePaul and Tulsa. Missouri's Cuonzo Martin was in this week, Iowa State was in this week and Butler's Chris Holtmann was in recently. Others like Oklahoma are keeping close tabs.

This spring, Lathon will hit the Adidas Gauntlet with Kansas City based Team Rush and he's looking forward to showing what he can do.

"I don't feel different pressure playing in front of big coaches," said Lathon. "I just feel like I have to be even more hungry and prove more people wrong who may doubt me."

Lathon also recapped winter visits to Butler, Colorado and Oklahoma along with his first meeting with Cuonzo Martin

Butler- "Butler was really nice. Butler is a small school but the home games are always sold out and it's like a family environment. That's what we have on Team Rush"

Colorado- "Colorado is the nicest campus in the country a lot of people say. The Flatirons are beautiful and the program is nice."

Missouri- "Really enjoyed my meeting with (Cuonzo Martin). He has a great demeanor and attitude towards changing the culture at Mizzou and keeping Missouri players in state."

Oklahoma- "Oklahoma was real nice. Me and my parents met with Lon Kruger in his office for like an hour and the players and the team are young but they are coming together. They didn't offer yet but they have told my high school coach that they are going to offer me. Their coaches are going to be out watching me in Dallas."

Lathon wants to see who gets involved after watching him over the next two weekends of the live evaluation period. After that he'll sort out the interest and make a list of favorites. Oklahoma is pushing hard for a spot on his final list, but one team stands out so far.

"I know right now Butler is for sure going to make my final list," said Lathon. "That's a high major national program and they have played for National Championships. So if you want to do that it's a good place to go. Really, after this spring I want to have a better idea and then I can focus on it in the summer."
