Rivals150 junior Daniel Ramsey still a bit under the radar

Daniel Ramsey

Daniel Ramsey had a productive summer playing with Georgia Stars 16-under team and worked his way into the 2019 Rivals150 at No. 116. The 6-foot-8 power forward showed off the ability both with his back to the basket on the block and also the ability to step out and knock down jumpers.

Before an injury sidelined him last week, he started the season averaging 22 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks per game.

Colorado State is the school showing the most attention to the Georgia native at the moment. He’s also been in regular contact with Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kansas State and Tennessee. He took an unofficial visit to Georgia during football season.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Ramsey talked about his interest in some of the schools involved with him so far.

Georgia: “It was awesome. My whole family liked it there and I liked it a bunch. I could definitely see myself playing there.”

Georgia Tech: “I like it a lot. I like the way they play. I’m planning on going to a game really soon. I talked to the coach the other day about going up there. I like how they play inside-out and develop their players.”

Kansas State: “Coach (Chester) Frazier has been on me hard. That was my first offer, so they’ve been in there since the beginning. They came to watch me a lot this summer. They always tell me I’m a top target, so I’ll probably take a visit up there soon.”

Tennessee: “I like them a lot. I watched them play on TV against North Carolina. Rick Barnes is a great coach and probably my favorite college coach in the country. It’s not too far from home, so I like that.”

RIVALS' REACTION

Ramsey is one of the more talented post players in the southeast in the 2019 class, but his recruitment doesn’t necessarily reflect that just yet. Playing at a small school down in southwest Georgia probably plays a decent role in that, but he’ll get all the chances he needs next travel season to once again play in front of college coaches. If he does what he's capable of, his high majors should ramp up their efforts with him quickly.

Right now, he’s staying open to all schools but Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kansas State and Tennessee have all made an impression on him early.
