Rivals150 guard to Big Ten

After taking his recruitment down to the wire, Verdell Jones narrowed his choices down to a pair of Big Ten programs. On Monday at a press conference at his school, the 6-foot-4 point guard announced his decision.
Jones will be taking his game to Bloomington, Ind., and suit up for Tom Crean and the Indiana Hoosiers. The Rivals150 guard from Central High School in Campaign, Ill. also strongly considered Minnesota. Playing time, he said on Monday night at a local pizza restaurant, was a major factor.

Jones said at the Hoosiers provided him with a chance to see plenty of playing time from the outset. The IU roster has shrunk this month as Crean dismissed JaMarcus Ellis and Armon Bassett from the team while Eli Holman announced he would transfer. DeAndre Thomas would not return to the team next year, the school also announced.
With a short roster, Jones said he fit in well with the incoming class which included former Marquette signee Nick Williams, Matt Roth, Tom Pritchard and junior college transfer Devan Dumes.
Rivals.com will have more from Jones later this evening.
