One of the fastest rising prospects in the class of 2016 is back on the market. Now the question is whether Rivals150 shooting guard LaGerald Vick will head to college as a class of 2015 prospect or remain in 2016.
Initially a member of the class of 2015, the high-scoring 6-foot-5 wing from Memphis (Tenn.) Douglass committed to SMU after taking an official visit there in the Fall. However, at the time of the commitment, Vick announced he would attend a year of prep school after graduating this spring and make his way to SMU as a member of the class of 2016.
Sources close to Vick have confirmed to Rivals.com that Vick has not only opened his recruitment, but he's now seriously considering enrolling in college this fall if he is able to find the right fit.
A fine athlete who can get his shot via the dribble, Vick is comfortable in both the open court and a half court setting. Though he can play above the rim, he is also adept at hitting jumpers. He needs to add strength, but Vick doesn't have a lot of areas of his game that need major improvement.
Playing on the Under Armour Association circuit with Team Thad, Vick has been one of the more impressive two-guard prospects this spring. While averaging a team high 14.1 points per game, he has far outplayed his current ranking of No. 137 in the 2016 Rivals150 and is setting himself up for a nice bump into the four-star range when rankings get updated in late June. Should he decide to move to 2015, Vick will still get his bump to four-star status, he just won't be able to crack the class of 2015 rankings since they were already finalized.
Prior to selecting SMU, Vick had heavily considered Georgia Tech, Arkansas, Baylor, Tennessee and Memphis. Look for most of those programs and many more to get involved now that he's back on the market.
