Rivals150 guard commits to Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech got its man on Saturday as Rivals150 guard Mike DeVoe committed to Josh Pastner. A super shifty guard from Orlando, the four-star guard brings a versatile skillset and an ever-improving game that should enable for early production in Atlanta.

Selecting the Yellow Jackets over USC, Ohio State, Florida, and Wake Forest, DeVoe is a home-run type of commitment for Georgia Tech. Standing close to 6-foot-4, the lefty averaged over 15 points off 42-percent shooting from beyond the arc, while racking up more than four rebounds and four assists per game on the Nike EYBL circuit this summer.

“It is a great coaching staff,” DeVoe said. “They have been on me since my sophomore year. They probably recruited me the hardest; they even came to see me through the hurricane. Coach (Pastner) even missed his daughter’s birthday to see me,” he said. “Just them making me a priority was the biggest thing. He wants me to come in right away and play. He even told me that he will play me through my mistakes.

“When I was on my visit, I had a great relationship with a couple of the guys. The relationship with my teammates was also really important to me since those are the guys you’re going to be around the most. They have been texting me, just blowing up my phone, just as excited as I am.”

The second commitment in the 2018 class, DeVoe will be joined by high-upside and skilled Swedish forward Kristian Sjolund. Georgia Tech remains in the mix for top-five wing Nassir Little and will play host to Rivals150 wing Keyonte Johnson the first weekend of October for an official visit.
