Rivals150 floor general down to four

Rivals150 Point guard McKinley Wright from the class of 2017 will make his college choice from among four programs.

Ranked No. 148 in the Rivals150, the six-footer from Champlin (Minn.) Champlin Park will pick either Dayton, Memphis, Minnesota or Xavier after visiting each program during September.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Minnesota: “It’s my home state. I like it here a lot. I like their play style and I’m really familiar with the players and the coaching staff.”

Xavier: “It’s obviously a super high level program. I’m not really too familiar with their program yet, but Coach [Chris] Mack and Coach [Travis] Steele recruited J.P Macura who played for the same AAU program as me and I’m pretty cool with him. I like their play style too.”

Dayton: “It’s a very good program. They’ve been to the tournament the last six or seven years. I like their playing style and they have like an NBA arena that I like a lot too.”

Memphis: “I have great relationships with the coaches on their staff. I like their playing style as well, but I need to learn more about them on my visit. They recruited me at Texas Tech too.”

WHAT’S NEXT?

It’s a pretty simple process now for Wright. He’ll take his four official visits and then make a decision shortly after. He didn’t completely rule out making a decision before completing all his visits. Starting the weekend of September 2nd, Wright will take his official visits four straight weekends with Minnesota going first followed by Dayton, Memphis and Xavier in that order.

RIVALS' REACTION

Going into the visits, Minnesota seems to have the edge based on his familiarity with the program. However, each of the other four programs have him very intrigued and a visit to any of them could be enough to pry him out of Minnesota. Look for the Gophers to try and squeeze Wright on his visit so that he doesn't take any of the other planned trips.
