Vernon Hamilton, a 6-1, 185 point guard from Benedictine High School in Richmond, VA, has orally committed to Clemson, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported this morning. Hamilton was also being recruited by Colorado, NC State, Florida State, Georgia, West Virginia, Richmond, Utah, Virginia Commonwealth and DePaul.
He spent two years at Thomas Dale High School where he helped the Knights win the Central Region basketball championship as a sophomore before transferring to Benedictine last year. Hamilton averaged 15.3 points a game, eight assists, seven rebounds and three steals last season and was named to the Virginia Independent Schools all-state team and was second-team All-Metro.
Hamilton, who carres a 3.2 GPA, also plays football as a wide receiver.
