Richards Close to Decision

Drew Richards, the 6-foot-10, 230-pound forward from Logan-Rogersville High
School in Missouri, is down to three schools. He just got back from his first

official visit, and depending on how next week's visit goes, he may be ready to
come to a decision.
Richards recently returned from a trip to Fayetteville, Arkansas, where
Richards learned what it's like in Razorback country.
"It was good," said Richards. "It was good because it was the first visit and
I wanted to see what it was like. I flew down and we went out to eat with
Ronnie Brewer and all the coaches. We then went back to the offices and hung
out a bit, and I went with Ronnie and the players to the dorms. We also
scrimmaged."
But one thing that Richards might remember the most about the trip is the food.
"We ate quite a lot," said Richards. "In fact, (Coach Heath) said that I ate
more than anyone else they've ever had. Of course, he hasn't had Al Jefferson
come in yet, so we'll see what happens there."
The trip was very useful for Richards as he continues to sort things out in his
head about his future.
"I found out what it was like to be an Arkansas player," said Richards. "It
also cleared up things in my mind about team chemistry and I got to meet up
with the players."
Next up for Richards is an official visit to Texas Tech this upcoming weekend.
He's looking forwards to the trip; Texas Tech is one campus that Richards has
yet to see.
"I've never been down there," said Richards. "I want to see what it's like
down there. I want to see what the daily routine is."
The third school left on Richards' shrinking list - Tulsa had been in Richards'
previous Final Four, but they have since been dropped - is Southwest Missouri
State, a school that has been there for him since the very beginning. He knows
all the players and coaches extremely well, and pretty much knows all there is
to know about the Bears program. He may not need an official visit to SMS, but
is leaving it open.
"If I still have any questions I'll take my trip to SMS," said Richards. "But
I wouldn't be surprised if I made a decision before that."
