"I like their style of play, and I like the school," said Holland. "I was impressed with what I saw when I toured the school."
Holland, who is the son of Alabama assistant James Holland, brings a coach's perspective to the floor with his play.
"Coach Braun wants me to run the show," he said. "He likes the way I communicate with my coach. He said that's the player he wanted to come in."
Holland, who averaged 14 points and six assists per game, also considered USC-Upstate, South Florida, William and Mary and Air Force amongst others.
Holland joins Stevie Rogers, Arsalan Kazemi, Tamir Jackson, Chris Eversley and Egheosa Edomwonyi in Rice's 2009 recruiting class.
