Reynolds: Big Factor At Oak Hill

Oak Hill Academy head coach Steve Smith told us that J.R. Reynolds is as good as he expected. "I had seen him play before," Smith said. "He is as good as I thought he would be. He has a real good medium range game with his jumpshot. Not many players have that today."
Reynolds, the combo guard from Roanoke (VA) Catholic High School, is averaging 16.4 points a game for Smith's Oak Hill program. "He gets to the hole too," Smith said. "He is a very intelligent player as well."

Smith added: "What I like is he plays hard on both ends of the court. He is a very good offensive player but he also is one of our best defenders on the defensive side."
Reynolds can do a lot of different things on the court, according to Smith. "He can create his shot by himself," Smith said. "He is also very strong. This helps him be effective in going to the basket. So a defender has to be careful how close they guard him or he will go around you."
Last year, Reynolds handled the point guard slot with confidence. Reynolds, who has already signed a letter of intent with Pete Gillen's Virginia Cavaliers, played with Boo Williams during the summer. "He is one of our best shooters," Smith said. "He is going to fit in well at Virginia with their style of play. He should score a lot of points there."
