Gibbs, who led Atlanta's Pace Academy to a 26-6 season, is now listed as a member of the Redan High School team in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Gibbs had an outstanding junior year as he was named to the Class AA All-State First Team while averaging 22 points, 15 rebounds and 5.5 blocks per game. He also was the Region Player of the Year.

Gibbs, who presently meets the NCAA academic requirements, previously said that Alabama, Georgia and Cincinnati had offered scholarships.
