Remember This Name: Sundiata Gaines

Sundiatta Gaines, a physical 6'1'' 185 pound combo guard from Archbishop Molloy High School in the Briarwood section of Queens, New York, is a member of New York City's class of 2004 whom major conferences will be eyeing over the next two years.
Gaines is exceptionally strong, a physical specimen. He uses his strength to bully smaller guards, and is able to absorb contact on drives to the rack. "Yatta" has an adequate handle at this point, but will need to polish his ball skills a bit for the next level. He can stroke the three in bunches, as Rivalshoops.com has seen in the past, as he connected on seven three-pointers in a game at The CYP Tournament in Port Chester, New York, in the spring, but generally needs to be more consistent.

Very early on, Yatta, who averaged 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists for legendary coach Jack Curran at Molloy as a sophomore, has heard from Seton Hall, Pittsburgh, Michigan, and Florida. Seton Hall has already come in to see him work out.
Gaines competes with The New York Gauchos. He attended the Summer Showcase and AAU Nationals in Orlando this summer, as well as the Nike Camp in Indianapolis.
Gaines carries an 81 average at Molloy, which is one of the top high schools in New York City. He'll take the PSAT on October 1st.
Yatta is a native of Jamaica, Queens.
