Releford headed to SEC

Ultimately it was a tight recruiting battle between Alabama and Oklahoma for four-star point guard Trevor Releford. And during his official visit over the weekend, the Alabama coaching staff secured a commitment from its top point guard recruiting target.
"As soon as I got on campus I felt at home, and all the people were already like family," Relford said. "Also I wanted to make an impact on a program, and Alabama is a great opportunity for that. I want to be a part of what Coach Grant is bringing to the university. And the guys on the team played a big part in my decision."

A 5-foot-10, 170-pound point guard from Shawnee Mission (Kan.) Bishop Miege High School, Releford will bring both speed and flare to the Alabama offense. He is an outstanding ball handler who excels at creating scoring opportunities with his penetration.
Releford, the No. 98 ranked prospect in the Rivals150, joins four-star post man Shawn Kemp and three-star wing Charles Hankerson in the 2010 Alabama recruiting class.
Trevor Relford scouting report:
Releford impressed this summer as he established himself as a quality high major point guard. A terrific ball handler, Releford also has a burst of speed that allows him to carve up defenses in the open court. He has a great feel for passing the ball and is the ultimate facilitator. Releford is also capable of scoring on the move. His challenges at the next level will be improving the consistency of his outside shooting and defending bigger and stronger guards.
