Pelham (Al.) power forward Alex Reese is off to a great start to his junior season. After a relatively mediocre summer by his standards, the four-star prospect is averaging 27 points and 12 rebounds through eight games and has his team currently sitting with a 6-2 record.
So far this season, coaches from Alabama, Georgia and UAB have been in attendance to see Reese play. Auburn and Vanderbilt have made plans to see him play this week.
IN HIS OWN WORDS: Reese has taken multiple visits to each of the schools recruiting him in Alabama and plans to make a trip up to Nashville to see Vanderbilt soon. He talked about what intrigues him with each school.
Auburn: "I like them. They run a system that I'd like to play in. They tell me about how the 4-man has a lot of freedom in their offense."
Alabama: "I like the coaches down there. I haven't really seen them play yet. I saw a practice when I was there for the Ole Miss football game. I haven't really seen what they do yet, so I'll get there soon for a game."
UAB: "They are big for me. I like UAB. I love all the coaches. They are all really cool. It's not too close, but it's not far away either."
Vanderbilt: "I like Vanderbilt. Their bigs are always good and they do a good job of developing players there. The academics there are also a big deal."
WHAT'S NEXT?: Reese still has almost a year before he can put pen to paper and sign a scholarship to one of the schools recruiting him, but that doesn't mean he's going to take all that time. He indicated to Rivals.com that a decision may not be too far away. He plans to check out Alabama and Vanderbilt soon and will likely be back at Auburn and UAB as well before making a decision.
RIVALS' REACTION: All four schools seem to be in play here for Reese. They all have advantages in different areas. He's spent the most time on Auburn's campus in the past year and Bruce Pearl's staff has made him a priority. The Tigers look like the team to beat, but Vanderbilt could shake this one up if he enjoys his visit there.
