Reed making a name for himself

After being somewhat of a relative unknown at the beginning of the year, Jon Reed has seen a drastic change in his recruitment take place. The 6-foot-7, 200-pound shooting guard from Peninsula High School in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., has emerged as one of the most heavily recruited players in the class of 2007.
"Washington State, Oregon, Pittsburgh, Utah and Miami-FL are just some of the new schools that have started to call," said Reed. "I have scholarship offers from Southern California and Wyoming, but I believe that other schools are going to start offering me real soon.

"I plan to officially visit Miami-FL and Washington State in the fall," he added. "I am going to take some other visits as well, but those are the two schools that I definitely plan to visit."
Reed will spend the spring and summer running with the Rising Stars AAU organization. He has already participated in a number of events this spring, but is looking forward to impressing some college coaches throughout the month of July.
If everything goes as expected for Reed, he will have an unlimited number of options to consider when he is ready to make a final decision about his future.
"I have already been to Las Vegas and the Next Level Ballers event in Dallas," said Reed. "I know that I will be attending the Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions and the Big Time event in Las Vegas. I don't have a complete schedule in front of me, but those are some of the events that I will attend.
"My dribbling skills and ability to attack the basket are two areas that I plan to focus on this spring and summer," he added. "I really want to be at my best during the July evaluation period. Becoming a better player with the ball in my hand and attacking the basket are two areas that I plan to focus on."
