RALEIGH, N.C. – The recruitment of three-star forward Greg Gantt is beginning to pick up. The 6-foot-8 standout, who can play multiple positions and is a tremendous frontcourt passer, has begun to hear from several new suitors.

“Newer ones are Ohio State, Xavier more often, and I have been talking to Oklahoma a little bit,” he said. “Providence has been on me for a minute and they have stayed on me. I have heard from UConn a lot since they offered me at the beginning of the season and I have been talking to Virginia Tech and Florida a little bit, too, along with Cincinnati.”

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Gannt spoke further on a couple of the programs that are in the mix for his commitment.

Providence: “The big thing about them is that they really like my versatility. They just don’t tell me what I want to hear. That is the big thing with them. They tell me what I have to work on if I go there and that’s one of things that I really respect about those guys. They do make an effort to come down to see me and I really appreciate that.”

UConn: “The offer means a lot. Coach Kevin Ollie also loves my versatility and wants me to be able to play multiple positions if I go there and to do a lot of things. I know they aren’t what they used to be right now but I feel like good things are coming for them. Coach Ollie is a good coach.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

No visits are set for the time being as Gantt rounds out his junior campaign for Trinity Christian School this winter, though there is one school that he has in mind that he would like to see.

“No visits coming up right now,” he said. “I do want to see Florida, though. They have been texting me a lot; that is one place that I would like to get down to.”

RIVALS' REACTION

Gantt is an effortless traffic rebounder that can pass, defend and finish with athleticism. His basketball ceiling remains untapped and his production has steadily improved.

UConn’s offer to Gantt has opened his eyes some to the AAC program. It looks as if Oklahoma, Florida, Xavier, Ohio State and a slew of others could also make a push in the coming months with the Rivals150 prospect. However, Providence, which has invested the most time and attention with the budding forward, appears to be the team to beat at this moment.
