Rayshawn Reed Has Top 5

Rayshawn Reed, a quick 6-0, 155 pound junior combo guard from Inglewood H.S. in Inglewood, Calif., told us he remains open in his recruiting process but has a good focus on what schools he is seriously interested in.
The junior speedster averaged 18 points and six assists this past season. Reed will again attend the ABCD camp in Teaneck, New Jersey in July. "Right now I have not ruled out any school," Reed said. "But UCLA, Georgia, Southern Cal, Stanford, and Connecticut are the schools looking at me the hardest."

Connecticut is the latest school to work Reed hard, according to Rayshawn. "I like their style of play," Reed said. "They like to run the ball up and down the court."
But Reed has plenty of West Coast flavor on his list. But Reed downplayed the distance factor and whether he would feel more comfortable playing his game on the West Coast. "They are on my list but they are like the other schools, they are even," he said. "Distance won't matter in what I decide. I want to go to a place where I will play as a freshman. And I want to go to a place where they run the ball a little. I don't mind playing in a setup offense once in a while but I enjoy getting out there and running the ball up the floor."
Reed said he plans on taking his visits in September perhaps. He would like to make a Fall decision. "I have to see how things go during the spring and summer," Reed said. "That's when I should have an idea of who is really interested.
Reed is not your prototypical point guard, but the southpaw floor general uses his speed and penetration ability to make things happen on the basketball court. He can also get hot from beyond the three point arc and help his team from the perimeter.
Reed plans on playing for the Southern California All-Stars and Top Prospects this summer. He also plans on attending the adidas ABCD Camp for the second straight year.
