EMERSON, Ga. – Every year during travel season, prospects come out of nowhere and see their stock quickly rise from mid-major schools involved to a long list of high-major programs. If the early part of this travel season is any indication, Rashun Williams is a strong candidate to be a major stock riser in the next few weeks when college coaches can see him with the Georgia Stars.

A 6-foot-6 wing, Williams is a great athlete with a long wingspan that can score both attacking the rim and hitting jumpers from three-point range. The 2018 prospect was a key part of helping Calhoun County once again make the single A public state championship game in Georgia before losing a close one to Wilkinson County.

Right now, Williams holds offers from Mercer, Middle Tennessee, Georgia Southern and Tennessee Tech. Interest is coming in from Georgia, UAB and Florida Gulf Coast.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

Georgia: “It’s a great school. Their coaches think I’d fit in well there. I’m just waiting to see if they offer and then I’ll go from there.”

UAB: “They call and text me pretty often. They are trying to get me down there for a visit, but it’s been hard with AAU season.”

Others: “I would like to hear from Florida State and Clemson.”

RIVALS’ REACTION

Sometimes it takes longer for kids in Georgia not located in metro Atlanta to see their recruitment take off and that definitely appears to be the case with Williams. It shouldn’t take long after the two upcoming open weekends for high-major coaches to be putting in calls to Williams. Playing for the Georgia Stars in the Nike EYBL should give him the right platform to finally show high-major programs around the country what type of player he is.
