Randy Holbrook Is A Top Target

Randy Holbrook, a 6-10, 240 pound center/power forward from Odessa J.C. in Odessa, Tex., will be one of the more coveted junior college big men available this year.

Holbrook (pictured right) has grown two inches since enrolling at Odessa, and continues to fill out his frame nicely. He was a force at the NJCAA Tournament in March for the Wranglers, tossing in double figures in points in a pair of losses. He's mobile and agile, and has advanced power moves around the basket.
According to Odessa Asst. Coach Matt Figger, Illinois, Arizona State, Seton Hall, Xavier, Long Beach State and Texas Tech have all called early on Holbrook.
"Randy is getting hit hard right now," Figger said. "I just got off the phone with Illinois, and they are recruiting him."
A native of St. Louis, Holbrook averaged seven points and 4.8 rebounds per game. He appeared in 24 games, starting six, shooting 53 percent from the field and 76 percent from the free throw line.
Several mid and high major programs recruited Holbrook out of high school, so expect his list to get longer before it gets shorter.
Holbrook and several other Odessa players are expected to participate in some key summer JC exposure events. According to Coach Figger, Wrangler players will attend Rick Ball's Camp at Collin County C.C. in Plano, Tex. from July 7-8, as well as Jerry Mullen's JUCO Showcase in Tulsa from July 27-29.
