Ramsey looking for up-tempo fit

Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon point guard Devearl Ramsey ranks as one of the top guards on the West Coast, and for good reason. The No. 46 prospect in the class of 2016 Rivals150 averaged 9.9 points per game in the Nike EYBL playing for the California Supreme and is now collecting offers from programs all over the country.

Of late, Ramsey said he's had the most contact with N.C. State, USC, UCLA and Washington, but also has schools such as California, Auburn, Florida State, Michigan, Ohio State and Louisville involved in his recruitment.
Being from the Los Angeles area, Ramsey has become very familiar with the USC program since Andy Enfield arrived. He took an unofficial visit there earlier this fall for a football game and likes what the Trojans are building.
"I like USC a lot," Ramsey said. "I like that they play up-tempo. They run and they pressure the ball. That's how I like to play."
Similarly, Ramsey likes how the Wolfpack like to get out run under head coach Mark Gottfried.
"N.C. State plays up-tempo, too. They like to push the ball. They have looked really good this year."
Washington was the first school to offer Ramsey, and that offer came during his freshman year of high school. He sees that the Huskies have had success with guards like him over the years under Lorenzo Romar.
"They have a good program. They have had some good smaller guards."
Pace of play is going to be a factor in Ramsey's decision when he examines each program before making a decision.
"I'm definitely looking for somewhere that plays at a faster pace. I'm looking at how well the coaches handle the players and also just the school in general and what kind of education I can get."
Recruiting is taking a backseat for Ramsey right now.
"I don't really have a top school right now. I'll start to narrow it down soon. I'm not even worried about making a decision right now. I'm just focused on this season for now."
