Quality 2006 Prospect in Oklahoma

Coach Guy Hardaker has his Santa Fe High School team from Edmond, Oklahoma ready for the first round of the state tournament, and when he spoke with RivalsHoops.com there was one prospect he wanted to tell us about. He is 6-foot-8, 200-pound combo forward Ekpe Udoh. The 2006 prospect already has the attention of a couple high majors in the area, and more will know about him in the coming months.
“Right now the schools showing interest in Ekpe are Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Baylor, and UNC-Wilmington,” said Coach Hardaker. “I don’t think a lot of people know about him outside of this area. If we make a run in the state playoffs, I look for his recruitment to speed up as he will get exposure.”

Udoh, who has a 7-foot-3 wingspan, is averaging 12 points and 10 rebounds for his 20-5 team, and Coach Hardaker has nothing but good things to say about his young player.
“Well, he has already been invited to the Nike Camp,” Coach Hardaker said. “He’s the real deal. I’ve never had a sophomore in my program as talented as him. He can play inside and outside. He can step out and hit the three, and he can put it on the floor and get by people. We have three post players on our team, so sometimes we have him out on the wing.”
“He is a really good defender. He is long and can guard the post well and does a solid job when we ask him to guard a perimeter.”
“He is getting better everyday. He’s progressed a lot, and I expect him to get better and better.”
Udoh will play this summer for Athletes First.
