Quadir Habeeb Going JUCO

Quadir Habeeb, a 6-8, 280 pound power forward who left St. Bonaventure following his freshman year this past spring, appears headed to enroll at a junior college in the fall.
Although he has had interest from a pair of Division I programs this summer, Habeeb said he is about 80 percent certain that he will enroll at Paris J.C. in Texas this fall. He has already signed papers to attend the Texas junior college.

"I don't want to sit out," Habeeb explained. "I want to keep playing this year."
Habeeb has visited both Pittsburgh and Houston in recent weeks. His former high school teammate Julius Page attends Pitt, and Habeeb (a Buffalo, N.Y. native) has family in the Houston, Tex., area.
If Habeeb were to attend either Pitt or Houston, he would have to sit out the 2001-2002 season, but he would still have three years of eligibility.
When asked if either Pitt or Houston had offered him a scholarship, Habeeb responded, "We never really got to that point with them, but basically, they wanted me. I just decided to go this [the JUCO] route."
If he were to enroll in junior college and play this season at Paris, Habeeb would have two years of eligibility left at the Division I level.
The Insiders Report will keep you posted on Habeeb's situation in the following weeks, so stay tuned.
