Rasir Bolton has cemented his standing this winter as one of the top point guard prospects on the East Coast and a number of college programs have taken notice and upped their pursuit of the Rivals150 standout.

Bolton is the type of versatile guard that can be used for his scoring prowess, playmaking in the lane and defensive acumen on the other end of the court. The 6-foot-2 junior, already with offers from VCU, Clemson, Penn State and Virginia Tech, is primed and ready for his final few months on the travel circuit.

Bolton transferred to Huntington Prep two months ago and has hit the ground running. His new squad is 11-2 since he joined the team.

“It has been fun. The team is good and everyone just wanted me to be the lead guard,” Bolton said. “I feel like I brought leadership and just helped guide them, putting things in place for them to do what they do.”

IN HIS OWN WORDS

On the recruiting front, three programs have made a push for his services.

“VCU, St. Joe’s and Virginia Tech, those are the ones talking to me the most,” Bolton said. “Villanova just called, I talk to Tulsa a little bit, Stanford and Clemson.”

Bolton gave his thoughts on the three showing the most interest.

VCU: “It is a great school and coach (Will) Wade is a great guy. I really like him. I see them a lot when I am at home. I have always thought about VCU since its home.”

St. Joe’s: “It is a great guard school and they get guys to the league along with a having a great, veteran coach.”

Virginia Tech:Buzz (Williams) is letting his guys play. He is a great coach and a great person. They’re just talking about fitting into their playing style and coming in and playing free and also making the tournament.”

WHAT'S NEXT?

Bolton will likely take a few visits this spring before the summer months heat up and things get busier with his travel season. Bolton will run with the Team Loaded Virginia bunch this summer alongside four star junior big man David McCormack on the adidas circuit.

RIVALS' REACTION

Bolton has always brought his A-game when facing top competition. The Richmond, Va., native brings upside and production to the floor, a lead guard recruit that is set to become a priority nearby programs. While a number of schools are involved, VCU might be the early leader in the clubhouse for No. 129-ranked prospect.
