Purnell lands his first at DePaul

There have been rumblings in Chicago as to whether Oliver Purnell is the right coach for DePaul and can recruit the city. Well, on Tuesday Purnell landed his first city recruit in Jamie Crockett of the Mac Irvin travel team.
"Jamie felt comfortable talking with Coach Parnell," said Crockett's travel team coach Nic Irvin. "He is close to the city and didn't want to go far from the city. It's the Big East and he wants to be one of the first players to help turn the program around."

Crockett, a 6-foot-4, 185-pound small forward from Crete (Ill.) Monee High School, is a top notch athlete. More importantly for DePaul, he is tied into the powerful and talented Mac Irvin travel team.
"I sat down with my father and we decided to give Coach Purnell a chance," said Nic Irvin. "We don't really no him yet and want to see what he can do.
"It was very important for him to get Jamie as his first recruit. Hopefully it will carry over, and he'll get more players."
Crockett was also considering Dayton and Indiana State.
