Pruitt Schedules Unofficial Visit

Shaun Pruitt, a 6-foot-9, 220-pound power forward from West Aurora High School in Aurora, Illinois hasn’t seen a lot of changes in his recruitment. The Michigan State Spartans are making a big push for him, so Pruitt will take an unofficial visit to East Lansing next weekend (June 28-29). No official visits can be made until the fall, but he might be interested in ending his recruitment before that period arrives.
“My recruitment is going pretty good right now,” Pruitt said. “Michigan State, Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Arizona and Marquette are the schools that I’m really looking at right now. I think that I have pretty much dropped Xavier from my list. I just don’t see myself playing at that school.

“I’m taking an unofficial visit to Michigan State next weekend (June 28-29),” he added. “That is the only unofficial visit I have planned so far.”
Pruitt realizes that he can’t start taking official visits until the fall period begins, but he might not want to wait that long for a decision about his future to be made.
“I really don’t know if I want to wait until the fall to make a decision about my future,” he said. “I always tell my friends that Illinois would probably be the place I would attend if I wasn’t playing basketball.
“I attended their camp several weeks ago and had the chance to meet the new coaching staff,” he added. “I’m just not sure about the number of official visits I will take and I really don’t know what schools I will visit.”
Michigan State is the only school on Pruitt’s list that has not offered a scholarship. While the Spartans just recently got involved in his recruitment, Pruitt might not have to wait much longer for an offer.
Pruitt suffered a broken ankle during his junior year, so he will take this summer to improve all areas of his game.
“I had a few minor setbacks with my ankle injury, but I ended up averaging 15 points and seven rebounds a game,” he said. “I have the ability to score from down low or I can take my game outside. I’ve got a good handle for my size, but I must get better on the defensive side of the ball.”
