Providence, Other Eastern Schools Eye BF

Dontay Tabbs, a 6-foot-9 225-pound big forward / center from George Washington High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and a member of the class of 2004, has emerged from relative obscurity this spring and has caught the eye of a number of coaches in the Northeast.
Tabbs, who turned in a terrific performance for the CAS Warriors at the Southern Invitational in Charlottesville, Virginia, a few weeks back, averaging roughly 17 points and 12 rebounds, has fielded preliminary interest from Providence and a number of other Big East and Atlantic 10 programs.

Long and athletic, but wielding a sturdy frame, Tabbs has showed a willlingness to attack the glass; he is a very capable rebounder. He is not afraid to mix it up inside. Tabbs has a seven-foot wing-span, according to Nick Blatchford, one of his coaches with the New York City-based CAS Warriors.
Tabbs is a junior academically, but is out of eligibility basketball-wise. The 18-year old will do a prep year in the fall, but his destination is uncertain at this point. Blatchford said that Tabbs will basically need one full academic year of work to be eligible for Division I play.
Tabbs will gain more exposure this spring and summer, as the Warriors always have a busy itinerary.
