Providence adds wing

At Providence, Ed Cooley and his staff wanted to add another wing athlete during their spring recruiting efforts. Tuesday morning they got the job done when athletic wing Ricky Council announced for the Friars.
Originally a member of the class of 2014, Council is a 6-foot-4 small forward who is spending a prep school year at Hickory (N.C.) Moravian Prep.

A high flyer on the break who can fill lanes in transition, Council has been putting up big numbers during his prep season and a lot of it has to do with his development as a jump shooter from behind the three-point arc.
Council fits the profile of a Big East athlete and has plenty of aggression on the offensive end. He also has the type of frame that should fill out very nicely in a college weight room so he should be physically ready.
The most important thing for Council to focus on between now and hitting the floor with the Friars will be continuing to improve his ball handling and to continue to upgrade his mid range game. He can finish through contact and does well sinking deep jumpers, but there is room to add to his in between game to make him a more complete player.
A three-star prospect, Council is Providence's fourth commitment from the class of 2015. He joins Rivals150 big man Alex Owens, three-star combo guard Drew Edwards and three-star forward Ryan Fazekas.
