Pro Aspirations For Myron Allen

Myron Allen was clearly one of the better players at this past weekend's Panhandle Classic in Marianna, Fla.
Allen, a spunky 5-11 combo guard from Lee J.C. in Baytown, Tex., helped the Running Rebels to a pair of victories over Florida programs.

On Saturday, he scored 22 points and knocked down the winning basket to help Lee defeat Pensacola J.C.
Although he can be a bit wild at times, Allen plays extremely hard and is very effective in pushing tempo and making things happen.
However, the Houston native is in his fourth year out of high school, essentially making him a fourth-year sophomore. As a result, he would only have one year of eligibility on the Division I level.
"He has about 42 hours and is a fourth-year sophomore, so even if he graduates, he would have but one year at a D-I school," said Lee Asst. Coach Jim Wilson. "Most of the big time Division II programs are recruiting him, and we have talked with several NBA teams. Portland has been in, and San Antonio was here last night and the Wizards are here tonight."
"We are going to gauge things, and if they feel like he has a chance to be drafted in the developmental league, we will probably tell him to go ahead and do that," Wilson said. "We know he still has a ways to go, but he's such a tough kid and plays hurt. He keeps coming at you, and that's what the people in the NBA like. He plays hard."
Allen has produced quite nicely for Lee this year, averaging 17.8 points and 6.5 assists per game for the Running Rebels.
"His first option would be that if some big time Division I needs a point guard for one year, and his second option would be a high, high Division II program," Wilson said. "His third option would be the developmental league."
One of the top programs in the NAIA ranks, Lee University, was on hand Saturday night to watch Allen play.
