Press Conference Set For Signings

While the signing status of 6-9 forward Kei Madison might still be in limbo, Okaloosa-Walton C.C. of Florida plans to have a press conference to announce the signings of a pair of their players on Monday afternoon.
O-W Head Coach Bruce Stewart told JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com that the press conference will take place at 1 p.m. C.S.T. at the gymnasium at the Florida junior college.

Brandon Vincent, a 6-8 sophomore forward from New Orleans, La., will sign with Mississippi State at the press conference, while 6-8 freshman qualifier Lonnie Jackson will ink with Mississippi. Jackson hails from Montgomery, Ala.
Madison, the well-traveled and talented 6-9 forward from Columbiana, Ala., will only sign with Mississippi State today if a waiver is granted by the Southeastern Conference.
The SEC does not permit its members to sign a player who has been at a junior college for less than three full semesters. Madison will be at Okaloosa-Walton for two semesters before he is expected to earn his associates degree in the spring of 2002.
Once he graduates, Madison will have spent five semesters enrolled in junior college, since he first enrolled at Iowa Western in 1999-2000. He left Iowa Western after the fall 2000 semester, but did not enroll at a school until resurfacing at Okaloosa-Walton this past summer.
Under the SEC rule, only the fall and spring semesters count as full semesters.
Initially, Madison had planned to finish up his academic course work at Southern Union State College in Wadley, Ala., where his brother Bobby attends school. After starting out the spring semester at Southern Union in January of 2001, Madison withdrew from the school.
Once he enrolled at Okaloosa-Walton, he reopened his recruitment. He narrowed his focus to Mississippi State and Cincinnati, and committed to the Bulldogs following a fall visit.
If Madison is able to sign with Mississippi State this fall, JUCO Junction/Rivalshoops.com will let you know.
