Prep Year For Maureece Rice

Maureece Rice, the solid 6-0, 210 pound point guard from Strawberry Mansion High School in Philadelphia, PA, is likely to spend next season at a prep school, according to sources who are close to this scoring phenom.
Rice played in the Regional Game at this past Thursday's Capital Classic at the MCI Center in Washington, DC. This season, Rice broke Wilt Chamberlain's all-time scoring record for Philadelphia preps.

The expected destination for Rice next fall is currently between Laurinburg Institute in North Carolina, Maine Central Institue and West Nottingham Academy in Maryland.
Rice's game is both scoring and strong defense. He has an excellent jump shot with range. 'Reece had 18 points on 8-12 shooting, four rebounds, two assists, one steal and zero turnovers in the Capital Classic contest in just 18 minutes of play.
Because his academic standing has been in question, schools have not recruited Rice as hard as they probably will if he can get things together next year. Miami and George Washington were the only schools that he had talked about previously with us.
Rice was the Philadelphia Daily News Co-Player of the Year after averaging 29.2 points this past season.
