Pondexter highly interested in six schools

There was a time when Quincy Pondexter was just about ready to put an end to his recruitment and give a commitment to the Arizona Wildcats. The 6-foot-7, 185-pound small forward from Memorial High School in Fresno, Calif., has now decided to take his time with the process and, as it stands right now, intends to take several official visits next fall before making a final decision about his future.
"My main focus right now is concentrating on this season," Pondexter said. "We are 3-1 right now and things are going pretty good. I scored 20-points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out five assists in our last game. We leave this weekend for a tournament in Los Angeles, so we are looking forward to that."

After taking an unofficial visit to Arizona during the weekend of Midnight Madness, it was believed that Pondexter, the No. 61 ranked player in the class of 2006, was going to give Lute Olson and his Wildcats a verbal commitment. However, after thinking about his future, Pondexter has decided to take his time with the recruiting process.
"Arizona, Kansas, Connecticut, Oklahoma, Washington and Oregon are the schools that I am very interested in right now," Pondexter said. "I guess you could say that Kentucky and UCLA are kind of on the backburner at this stage in my recruitment. I am going to keep those two schools on my list for now, but they are behind the other six schools.
"I am planning to take two or three official visits before making a decision about my future," he added. "Kansas, Washington, Oregon and Connecticut are the schools that I would like to visit. I will be ready to make that decision after my season is over."
