Polk planning spring visits

Instead of waiting until the fall and trying to cram in a potential five official visits, Christian Polk, the No. 37 ranked player in the class of 2006, is planning to take at least two official visits this spring. A Big East school and a Big Ten school are on the docket, along with possibly an ACC school, for the 6-foot-3, 170-pound combo guard from Deer Valley High School in Glendale, Ariz.
"Christian is planning on at least two spring visits," said Polk's AAU coach Earl Flaggs of the Arizona Magic. "He definitely will visit Connecticut and Indiana, and possibly Miami as well. We have been on the phone quite a bit trying to work something out with Miami.

"I have been talking with Christian's father, and it just makes sense to go ahead and visit a couple schools in the spring if you know you are really interested in them. Then you aren't so pressured in the fall to cram a bunch of visits in, and if you find something you like, you can lock the deal up early."
Indiana was recently in Arizona to watch Polk along with his teammate, friend and Indiana signee Joey Shaw. Connecticut watched Polk in the fall and then again last week. The Huskies also intend to watch Polk closely in Las Vegas in mid-April.
Besides Indiana, Connecticut and Miami, Coach Flaggs mentioned the other schools that are prominent in Polk's recruitment.
"Washington really loved him when the watched him when they were down here to play Arizona State," said Flaggs. "UCLA is in there, and Florida State is still on him. Joey has quite a healthy recruitment. Arizona State and Arizona are still involved, too."
As of now, it appears that Indiana is in the driver's seat to land Polk with a couple connections working in favor of the Hoosiers.
"Christian's dad and family are from Indiana," said Flaggs. "Also, he and Joey Shaw are best friends, and there is no doubt that Christian would love to play with Joey."
