During the summer, senior Maliek White proved that he could play with the best players from around the country. Now, the three-star prospect is in the process of moving his recruitment forward in hopes of finding the right spot.
A 6-foot-2 point guard at Richmond (Va.) George Wythe, White entered the summer relatively unknown outside of his region. However, after hitting the road with the River City Reign, White has landed several high level scholarship offers and put himself into position to make the 2016 Rivals150.
Capable of playing on the ball or sliding over to the two because of his scoring ability, White is an explosive guard. He is all about attacking and creating pressure on both ends of the floor and he is a streaky jump shooter who defenders can't afford to leave from deep.
Among the programs who have now offered White are Boston College, Drexel, Cincinnati, East Carolina, UMass, Pittsburgh, Providence, VCU and Old Dominion.
Now White has set up some visits. He saw VCU unofficially on Monday and he'll see ODU on Sunday the 23rd of August. After those unofficial visits, he'll move on to official visits at Pitt (9/19), Cincy (9/26) and Providence (10/2).
So far, White has no leaders and hasn't settled in on a target date for making a decision. His summer coach Chris Herron says his point guard is still open and in no rush.
"He has not narrowed his list and is taking time with the recruiting process," said Herron.
