Norman Plummer scored 27 points, Deion James added 18 and Joel Smith chipped in with 16 to lead Brewster Academy to a 113-80 victory over Thayer Academy in the first round game of the Brewster Classic held this past weekend.
Plummer, who has been on a tear recently, drained two three-pointers in an impressive offensive display.
James and Smith, both talented juniors, also shot the ball well from long range. Smith had three three-pointers and James had one.
Frank Gilroy (North Bellmore, NY) had 12 and David Gale (Sherman Oaks, CA) 11 also contributed to the victory. Thayer was led by Maryland-bound Mike Jones with 22 points. Teammate Jamaal Dixon scored 20 in the loss.
Notre Dame Prep defeated MCI in the opener of the Brewster Classic 80-72. Notre Dame Prep was led by Gary Ervin with 19 points. Shane Nichols added 14 points and Will Blalock 12 for ND Prep. MCI was led by Marquis Kately who had 16 points
