Platt Talks About Oregon Decision

Mitch Platt, a rapidly developing 6-9, 250 pound power forward/center from Green Valley H.S. in Las Vegas, Nev., told us that his visit to Oregon convinced him he wanted to play for the Pac-10 program. "After I took that visit last weekend," Platt said. "I knew this was the place for me. I got along great with the players and the coaches."
Platt said he also seriously considered Texas Tech but his visit to Oregon spun him toward the Ducks' commitment circle. "They want to use me in an area they felt they were lacking in last year and that's the inside scoring area," Platt said. "They felt that was one of the reasons why they lost to Kansas last year in the tournament. They didn't have enough inside scoring whereas Kansas did. So I think I can help them in the low post."
Platt also considered at one time during his recruiting process Arizona State, Texas Tech, Oregon, San Diego State and Utah. "But it came down to Texas Tech and Oregon," Platt said. "The trip to Oregon just felt right."
